Manhunt 2

Manhunt 2 has stood through many court orders and almost completely being banned, but after a few alterations to receive an M rating, overall this is a pleasing game.

great textures and graphics, great lighting effects, very stealthy gameplay, great engrossing storyline.

Executions have received a blur effect that makes it almost impossible to see exactly whats going on, some minor AI problems.

This game is pretty much a port of the PS2 version, and must I say that they did a damn good job, seriously this is a very nice looking game. Some of the best effects are the light shading that affect Danny and his clothes and sometimes when its really dark the graphics get this really grainy look, slightly similar to that of old school comics, but it adds a real raw effect to the game. The textures are fantastic, some look cheap and stuck on, like for example when you kill a guy with a plastic bag, he somehow managed to get blood on the back of his jacket, not something really that possible that quickly, but other than that the environment is very raw and gritty.

Well this is a hell of a story, not to ruin anything, but this is very much and adult game. It sports hookers, leather clad BDSM freaks and a host of other sickening fools for you to kill. The progression is quite fluent and there aren’t any moments where you ask yourself “hey that doesn’t make sense”. Its a wonderful, sick story that will have all fans in for its brutal honesty.

I’ve many different reports on this games sound and I think its actually very good. The dark and creepy ambient tracks set the mood completely and the cries for help are great. The sounds of someone dying are very realistic, the plastic bag now sounds like someone with their face in a plastic bag (I wonder how that went down in the studio?). The voice acting is good and sounds realistic, the only thing to pick on is that you often unfortunately hear the same lines over and over again, making it sometimes annoying whilst your trying to wait to execute someone.

This for me was the most important part, I absolutely loved each and every minute of playing this game, forget the blurs on the executions, this is a great stealth action game. The mechanics work very well and the new button sequence minigame is appropriate for proper survival, no more banging on a wall then hiding and a bad guy looking right at you then walking away. The movement is great, sometimes touchy. The button layout is easy to master and proves no problems at all. The fighting and executions are realistic and gruesome (when you can see whats going on). The array of weapons is great, allowing for much selection between killing. The environmental kills are a great new feature, making it now easier to both kill someone and take a break from the same executions with one weapon. Very fun and any fan of the first game should find this easy to get their hands around.

A very fun game with almost nothing to complain about, don’t be too bothered by the executions being blurred, just watch them on youtube or something. The best thing about manhunt 2 on the PSP is that its portable! kill on the go I say.
